Food... Excellent.  Service... Not so much.

We went to eat at Sushi Tomo for my son's birthday.  Upon entering, we were greeted by the friendly chefs.  The waiter came and asked for our drink order, but we had to ask 3 times for our drinks.  We ordered two All You Can Eat dinners, a roll for each kid (5 and 8), side of rice, and side of crab.  We explained my son's food allergies and the waitress seemed to understand.  While waiting for our food, we were putting the chopstick helpers on the chopsticks.  The male waiter insisted on giving him the chopsticks because he stated that we couldn't do it.  I told him we were fine, but he just stood there and watched.  He said again, "give them to me." I took my time while he watched impatiently.  Uncomfortable.

The food came out and the rice was topped with sesame seeds (anaphylactic allergy which I explained that we were to have absolutely no sesame seeds on the table). She immediately apologied and took the rice back.  We didn't have any other allergy problems after that.

The food was delicious.  Sushi seemed fresh.  The chefs were cheerful.  I really liked the flaming salmon roll and baked mussels.  The salmon melted in my mouth.  I liked that the older chef (possibly the owner) came to our table and asked how we liked the food.  We told him it was our son's birthday and he said he would send us ice cream.  It was all very good.

The male waiter returned with the ice cream about halfway through our meal.  He placed the bowl in front of the kids.  This distracted my 5 year old from finishing her dinner, even though I moved it to the other side of the table.  It's only common sense to wait until the children are finished eating before placing dessert in front of them.

I asked for a box for the kids' leftovers.  We had 2 pieces of leftover sushi, so I threw those in the box too.  A few minutes later, the female waitress came to the table and asked me to open the box.  She inspected the contents and told me that I had to take the two pieces of sushi out or pay for them.  It would have been more respectable for her to explain the policy on taking home leftovers instead of being the sushi police.  I also didn't appreciate that it drew attention from the other patrons.  I think she went about it in a very rude and defensive manner.

We usually go to a sushi place that's further, but decided to try this place since it is very close to my house.  The convenience of location, plus the delicious food makes me want to return, in addition to the excellent chef service.  But the waiter and waitress really turned me off.

This place doesn't event deserve a star. Worse service ever. The owner must be too cheap to hire enough help. First there was one server during lunch hour. Second there is only one sushi chef so it took 45 mins for us to receive three rolls and some pieces!!!!!! Once we were served, The quality of the rolls was made poorly the rice was falling apart and just sloppy!!!

I am very familiar with a few sushi places in the San Bernardino area please do not go to this one it's
    Not worth it.

When I asked to speak to the owner no management was present...I guess the customers are not valued at Sushi Tomo

By the time I got back to my motel room, after spending a long day taking photos of railroad action - also known as railfanning - on nearby Cajon Pass, I was exhausted, and driving wasn't an option for me.  Lucky for me, I love Japanese cuisine, and the fact that Sushi Tomo, located in North San Bernardino, was only a two-block stroll from my motel room.  You can't beat that!

As you walk in the restaurant, you'll immediately notice the long counter, the sushi chef working behind the counter, and the sports bar-like atmosphere.  The dinner menu is extensive and offers several pages of sushi, and other Japanese classic dishes, but I zeroed in on the page of Bento Box options, as I am a "Bento Box Believer..."  Another major reason is that miso soup is included with every Bento Box I've ever ordered, and I'm a major fan of miso soup.

Tonight, I decided to go with the "two item" Bento Box dinner.  To describe it only one word... amazing!  Delicious would also apply.  So what is a Bento Box at Sushi Tomo?

For starters, you get the choice of two "items" from the menu, if you're ordering a "Two Item Bento Box"  - simple math - like I did tonight.  My "items"  were Mixed Tempura and Gyoza, but it was definitely a difficult choice on my part, as all the menu choices looked amazing.

All Bento Boxes include rice, salad, sliced cucumbers, and "gyoza" sauce.  Mmmmm....  You can't beat the fresh salad, sliced cucumbers or the sauce.  It's all delicious, fresh and tastes wonderful.  I especially went "bonkers" over the rice; the menu advertised it as "steamed rice," but this was some of the best white rice I've ever tasted.

Now my "items..."  mixed tempura and gyoza.  Gyoza are little Asian dumplings, similar to potstickers, with a definite Japanese flair.  The mixed tempura included three large shrimp, carrots and squash, fried in light, delicious tempura batter.  I'm a definite "sucker" for tempura!  Tonight's dinner was simply wonderful...

The food was delicious, and I loved the friendly "sports bar" atmosphere, along with the cheerful customers and staff.  It's always fun to watch a sushi chef at work - even though I went the route of the Bento Box - and miso soup is always a wonderful way to start a meal. Sushi Tomo should be on your list when you're in the mood for a great Japanese dining experience in North San Bernardino.

The food is delicious, the "sports bar like" dining room is clean and comfortable, the price is right, and the service is fast and super friendly.  In my opinion, Sushi Tomo is as good as it gets, and I give this fantastic restaurant five stars.

I used to come here all the time for the avocado Panko we would get two or three order every weekend..we went back for the first time since last semester and got two orders of the panko avocado...it was $15 and the services was always good so I tipped $5. When we got home we realized they had severely changed how they make the panko avocado. There was hardly any panko and they had cut down the amount of avocado given. So I ended up paying $7 for an avocado with a few bread crumbs when I could go get an avocado for free from my back yard. Won't be coming back again

This sushi joint definitely has had better days. Normally, my partner and I grab a couple of Pablo avocado appetizers and go on our way but this was just sad. We expected to have our favorite meals so we tipped big a good amount only to find poorly breaded avocados that didn't right.. A little after eating them I started to feel nauseated but blew it off as a lack of water, but just now my partner vomited profusely in the car and needless to say, we have an idea from where these negative reactions and feelings are coming from. I miss when the food was actually good! Sad to say, we won't be coming back again.
